KOVAS composed the original score for Lil Kev, the new animated adult series starring Kevin Hart, now streaming on BET+. Set in 1993 North Philadelphia, the show delivers a raw, hilarious, and unfiltered take on Hart’s childhood. To authentically capture the era, KOVAS crafted a 90s-inspired soundscape, blending gritty boom-bap beats, nostalgic synth textures, and cinematic cues that transport viewers straight into the world of young Kev. Using legendary drum machines like the MPC 60, SP-1200, TR-808, and TR-909, alongside the Roland JV-1080, the music enhances both the humor and heart of the series. Beyond the underscore, KOVAS also created original ‘90s-inspired songs, seamlessly woven into key moments of the narrative. Lil Kev is now streaming exclusively on BET+.
